Head of School
David King received a BS with honors in English from the University of North Alabama, and a MA in English from Saint Louis University’s Madrid, Spain campus, where he was also a Loyola Fellow and adjunct instructor in composition, research, and rhetoric. Mr. King has been teaching for the past eleven years, including three years as an instructor and department chair in the Air Force, a year as an English language instructor in Spain, and five years as a high school AP language and AP literature teacher. He has also twice been selected as an English department chair . He is a Texas and Arizona certified teacher in English Language Arts, History, Elementary Education, and English as a Second Language. He also has experience in administration and counseling at the secondary level. Prior to his work in education, he was an intelligence officer in the United States Air Force.
Mr. King began the 2014-2015 school year as the 8th grade English teacher, but was promoted in January 2015 to his current position as Director of Academic Programs. His knowledge of state & AP testing, TEA & BASISed course sequencing, and overall academic programming makes him a tremendous asset to the administrative team.
Head of Operations
Nicole Kamp currently serves as the Head of Operations for BASIS Ahwatukee, and is responsible for the financial operations of the school; maintenance and development of the school premises, IT services and auxiliary programs. Prior to transferring, Mrs. Kamp worked as the Head of Operations at BASIS Scottsdale for three years. Additionally, she has ten years of experience in charter school operations outside of BASIS Charter Schools and 15 years classroom experience as an elementary school teacher. She assisted in acquiring a charter for the Shelby School in Payson and later became the school's principal. She also managed operations at Shelby Schools Mesa site for six years.
Director of Student Affairs
Lyndsay Rogers is currently the Director of Student Affairs at BASIS Ahwatukee. She joined BASIS Ahwatukee in its opening year as the Student Support Coordinator in 2013, and served as the Dean of Students the year following. As the Director of Student Affairs, Mrs. Rogers is responsible for working with the Dean on all issues relating to the well-being of the students during their time at school, including code of conduct matters, as well as academic support and intervention. Mrs. Rogers earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lees-McRae College in North Carolina. She graduated summa cum laude as a student athlete, playing soccer all four years, while also being involved in the performing arts and leading student government. Her career in education started in 2001, as a certified high school biology teacher and soccer coach in the state of Texas, then gaining her certificate in the state of Massachusetts in 2006. For five years, Mrs. Rogers has worked in the biotech industry for the following diagnostic labs, Genzyme Genetics and Laboratory Corporation of America respectively. Eager to get back into education, she has now found BASIS to be her home away from home. Mrs. Rogers is excited to be a part of BASIS, helping to create a great culture for learning and guiding students to reach their full potential. She is happy to call Arizona her home with her husband and two children.
